How I Outsource My Work to AI

In recent months, we’re witnessing an unprecedented paradigm shift. Artificial Intelligence has become smart enough to create content that is indistinguishable from what a human can produce. Furthermore, it is often better — faster, more creative, and more precise.

As we move into the future, those who are able to effectively leverage artificial intelligence will have a huge advantage. They will be able to experience rapid growth and outpace their competitors.

Since the summer of 2022, I’ve been incorporating artificial intelligence into my workflow of a product manager as much as possible. I’ve explored several ways in which AI can be extremely useful. Here are the best ones!

AI as a Brainstorming Buddy

When facing a tough decision, solving a problem or coming up with ideas I always like to have the perspective of other people and get a little bit out of my own head. AI is great exactly for this.

Don’t be afraid to be very specific and explain all details. It will help it to understand the niche of your question. Try asking questions such as:

  • How can we reach new users with a bike-sharing mobile app?
  • 10 ideas for an outdoor team building activity with one disabled team member
  • Compare pros and cons of performance marketing with a log budget

Pre-processing Customer’s Feedback

If you have ever conducted a survey with open-ended questions, you understand how difficult it can be to analyze the results. You have to read through hundreds of responses, interpret the data, and draw conclusions.

This is exactly where the AI truly shines. AI can quickly and efficiently process the data and deliver more accurate results. Try giving it a list of responses from your users and ask questions such as:

  • What is the pattern among those answers?
  • What’s the most common suggestion?
  • Clean the answers and leave only meaningful ideas and suggestions

Summarizing Long Texts

AI is an ideal tool for summarizing long documents or articles. It can quickly analyze the text and identify the key points, providing a concise summary that captures the main ideas.

Sometimes, you may need to read the full text to gain more insight anyway, but AI can help you determine which parts are worth your time and attention. Also, you don’t need to worry about the AI getting bored or falling asleep halfway through!

Simply copy & pase long text to AI and ask questions such as:

  • Simplify it for me
  • Summarize the text
  • Write key takeaways

Writing (Micro)copy

As a non-native English speaker and not a professional copywriter, I often struggle to express my ideas in a concise, clear, and captivating way.

In the past, like many people, I have frequently used Google Translate for proofreading my grammar and looking up synonyms. Nevertheless, it lacks the capability to adjust the tone, style, and length of the text. AI can do all of it and even rewrite the text in 10 different ways for you.

I’m often using it to generate ideas or adjust my own text:

  • Write a funny claim for _____
  • Describe a new brand of tea with a flavour of pineapple
  • 10 ideas for a catchy call to action for a charity run

Other Use Cases I’m Looking Into

We are just beginning to see the potential of AI, and the possibilities are seemingly endless. As new applications and use cases arise each day, the potential for these technologies is vast.

Here are some use cases from the typical day of product manager that I think should be explored further:

Competitors Analysis

AI could be used to identify trends and potential opportunities in the market, and to assess competitor strengths and weaknesses. Also for tracking competitors’ pricing, promotions, and customer reviews.

Customer Journey Optimization

We could utilize AI to uncover possibilities for cross-selling, upselling, and tailoring offers, as well as analyzing customer feedback to recognize areas that need improvement in the whole customer’s journey.

Roadmap planning

I am sure that AI could use customer data, research, and technical knowledge to identify areas of opportunity and assess potential risks far more accurately than any human. Eventually, we could assign it to plan out an entire roadmap.

Bonus — Writing articles about AI

Yes, you guessed it right. 70–80% of this article was written by AI.

It helped me to structure my thoughts and rewrite certain phrases to make them fit to the article. Altogether, it took me a bit more than an hour…

Welcome to the age of Artificial Intelligence!

Edit: Recently, I’ve finished a challenge of building a full-scale macOS app by using just GPT-4. You can check it out here!
